Boca Narrowly Escape The Storm

Santa Clarita, California, June 9, 2012. - After a unexpected change in venue to Golden Valley High School from Hart High this week, the game was a typical rematch from opening day of the 2012 season when the Storm jumped to a quick lead in the first half 2-0 only to see it disappear and the game end in a tie. This game wasn't much different except the totals at the end where 1-1 left each team with a point a piece.Storm expected a tough match with Boca coming in with a record of 3-2-1 for the season and the Storm sitting in secondteam pic june 2012 place in the Southern Conference with a record of 5-2-2 and the playoffs in site. The match saw many one vs one battles with a lot of incomplete passes and turnovers, as both teams were fighting to get on the board first.

It only took the Storm 23 minutes to take that lead and it was Alex Harlley who put his team up by one. In the 23rd minute of play; defender Robbie Gouk spotted Harlley open on the right side of the keeper, with a long pass from the defensive third of the field, Gouk launched a pass right to Harlley who brought the pass down to his feet, took a move or too around a defender and sent a rocket right past the flat footed 'keeper and put the Storm up 1 - 0 in the half.

The second half started out exactly as the first ended, except midfielder Matt Shaxton for the Storm was substituted because of a bruise on his heel. And the Storm seem off a bit at the start of
the second half, the Boca came out very aggressive and continued to pressure &again a bit of the back and fourth play went on. In the57th minute of play Boca broke lose and took advantage of a
miscue in was is normally a very solid defense of the Storm and Boca's Jammel Wallace took advantage of that and tied the score. The Storm starting pressuring and had a number of
opportunities but could not capitalize on them. Tyler Coombes hit a bullet from 20 yards out the rocket pass everyone on and looked like a for sure game winner, to have it only hit the side post & bounced back in to the field of play, Newly signed Mauricio Harrie had three shots on goal with one just saved by the Boca 'keeper to dine Harrie.
