Martines, besides an accomplished soccer player, is also a television actor, recording, artist and owns his own filming company - D.T.E. Martines has played along side such players as Chris Klein (formerly of the LA Galaxy), Coby Jones (formerly of the La Galaxy), Brian McBride (Fulham of the E.P.L, & Chicago Fire of the M.L.S) and Daryl Dorn (St. Louis Storm). Martines' family has a background in the foundation of soccer in St. Louis, Missouri, where his father; Stephen Martines Sr and Pat McBride (the father of Brian McBride) together established the foundation for youth soccer in St. Louis. They together developed teams that lead to the longest running youth organization in St. Louis, the St. Louis Youth Soccer Association (S.L.Y.S.A). As a youth Martines had 7 championships and 6 M.V.P's with the White Star SC. He was recognized as one of the "elite" youth players in the state at the age of 14. Martines was a member of the ODP program and raked #1 striker in the Nation. He also went on to have a
successful high school career with a record of 71 goals 32 assist totaling 182 points, two National Finals and a Championship. Martines went on to have a very successful college career as well before the sudden death of his farther, that took Stephen out of school to take care of his family. Eventually Martines returned to college for one year where he captured the M.V.P award once again.
Finally Martines got his opportunity to play at the next level in the M.L.S, joining the Kansas City Wizards (now Sporting K.C) but again adversity would strike, this time it was a career ending injury to his knee. After that Martines had moved to California only to fine another vocation in television and music, as he has been enjoying a successful career in both. Appearing in several television shows with the latest Vampire Diaries as his part as returned to the series. Martines as just cut a new signal record that should be released soon & will serve as assistant coach to Jarrod Cline this season.
Tyler Coombes will be returning to the Storm as captain along side of Martines for the second year.. Coombes soccer background started at a very early age, with the ability to play several positions he became very valuable to the team. As a youngster Coombes played for youth club teams at the age of 12 through 17 playing with a Palmdale Thunder. Three years from the age of 15 to 17 Tyler was voted most valuable player and was the team captain for all three years with the club. Coombes accelerated in high school as well, where as a Sophomore & a Junior Coombes was named once again most M.V.P. Tyler did not stop there, making First Team All League as a junior, Defensive player of the year & Captain (again). As a varsity player and captain Coombes also captured the Golden Boot award and as a Senior was M.V.P once again, and again was selected for the First Team All League and was also selected M.V.P of the Senior All Star game. As a freshmen in college he didn't slow down at all as he was
once again appointed to the First Team All League & started all the games his team played. In 2009 at Cal State
LA Coombes received the Goal of the Year Award. Coombes and Martines look to be the leaders this season for the Storm as the look to capture a title the first year in the Santa Clarita Valley.
