Storm came from behind to capture their third win in as many
games with a 4-1 win over Trigueros Saturday night at George Carver Middle
School in Los Angeles. It was suitable weather for the Storm with a
steady drizzle of rain though out the night. The Trigueros started strong with
pressure right from the start and keeping the Storm in their own Offensive zone.
Then in the 12th minute of play, the Trigueros got past the Storm defense with
a ball through the legs of a Storm defender, it was picked up by the Trigueros
forward who got the first goal of the night past Storms keeper Steven
Rodriguez. But just Seven minutes later it was the Storms turn as Tyler
Coombes battling in front of the Trigueros net managed a pass to Jesus
Lopez who Volleyed the ball and then chest trapped it and loft it in to tie
up the score.

In the second half with the score tied at one it was
Lopez again with the ball except this time it was he who set up Mauricio
Harrie in the 65th minute with a cross that found the feet of Harrie and
with a quick shot passed the keeper two now take the lead. The Storm was just
beginning to build as in the 75th minute it was Lopez again with a pass up
field and it was a through ball to forward Tyler Coombes. After missing an opportunity in the first
half of play Coombes made sure this one counted has, he beat the keeper
and gave the Storm a more comfortable lead of two goals. The Storm was clicking
now and with the biggest percentage of possession they were looking like the
team that was coming together with a series of passes and build ups, and it was
only a short time then in the 83rd minute when Tyler Coombes
received the ball midfield and carried it through the defense and creating a
break away. But a Trigueros defense caught up with
Coombes and forced him to the side of the net and before going out Coombes
made a nice neat pass along the goal line to the feet of the attacking Mauricio
Harrie who collected his second goal of the night. That was enough to lead
the Storm to their third victory in a row with a 4-1 win. The Storm now has a
record of 3-0-3 in the LA Premier Soccer League with 9 points.

The Storm; who are participating in the Los Angeles Premier Soccer League in the off season, faced 'Brazil' Saturday night in Los Angeles at George Carver Middle School. Both teams found themselves in short supply of players with an equal amount of elven on both sides. The game was not only even in the number of players available, but also opportunities created by both teams on the field. Although the Storm controlled about 70% of possession during the game, the score stayed even though out the first half of play. The Storm however created several scoring opportunities. In the 38th minute, forward Mauricio Harrie fired off a perfect shot within the 18 yard line with help off a pass from Captain Matt Shaxton who was all the way out in midfield. Harrie managed to out maneuver the Brazil defense but the shot was right in the arms of the Brazil `keeper Regio Corona.

The Second half did not change much with a little more possession from Brazil, the game remained even however until the 75th minute of play; when a set play created a may-lay in front of the Brazil goal allowing defender David Duffy to sink the ball into the back of the net to score what was the only goal of
the game. Even after a gantlet effort from Brazil who picked up the intensity and pressure to uncomfortable levels for the last 20 minutes of the game. Five minutes after the Storm took the lead Brazil created a break away and got a shot on target that Storm keeper Steven Rodriguez stretched to the far post and got a palm on the ball to knock it out of play. Off of the following corner kick Brazil came right back with a shot that found itself just under the cross bar and looked to be the shot that would knot up the score, when Rodriguez came up big again with a vertical dive getting his figure tips on the ball and push it up and over the net. Again off of the corner Brazil found the ball just outside the 18 and managed another well placed shot on goal only to yet again be denied by Storm `keeper Rodriguez.
The Storm had a couple more opportunities to put up a couple more goals from (typically) goalkeeper Miguel Lopez who was on the field due to the player shortage. In the 80th minute Lopez caught a cross with his head and got the header well on target but was denied by Corona. Lopez followed up with another
chance in the 85th minute assisted by teammate Mauricio Harrie but was again denied. It was the one goal that would have held up to give the Storm the win.
Additional clubs that have already been approved include Zanesville Athletic FC, the Cape Coral Hurricanes, Tampa Marauders FC, Miami United SC, Chesterfield United FC, Rock City Soccer Club, the New Orleans Jesters, Virginia FC, and RVA Football Club.

The
Stallions, led by Alfred Hoviss, appear to be one of the most ambitious
clubs in recent memory. They have set high expectations for their

to engage local communities including charitable projects, exhibition
matches, and Hispanic outreach programs.

model club in the making, the Stallions plan to run their organization
in a way that is family-friendly. “We want to send the right message,” Hoviss declared. “We want to infuse family values, strength, and discipline.”Their
motto of “Never Run Alone” makes players Stallions for life, an exciting
prospect as their players strive to make it to the next level. The
Cape Coral Hurricanes are one of several new Florida clubs. They will be
playing their home matches at the beautiful Cape Coral High School, a
stadium that holds over 2,400 fans. It also has many modern amenities,
including an excellent pitch, two large concession stands, and an
enclosed press box. The

Los Angeles,California - For the first time thus far, the Storm found themselves with an unbalanced roster traveling with eight forwards, eight midfielders, three defenders and only one keeper forcing some players to play out of position in an effort to fill in the missing positions. The game started with equal procession control
of the ball., until the 18th minute of play when Sporting FC cracked open the defense of the Storm earning themselves a breakaway and put their first goal into the back of net. However, no more than three minutes later Sporting FC came back into the Storms defensive third and off of a cross that was nicely placed to a
charging forward who volleyed the ball to collect the second goal of the game for Santa Monica.
It was the Storm's turn as no more than twelve minutes later on
a restart from a foul about twenty-two yards out of the Sporting F.C
defensive zone, captain Matt Shaxton took the kick and placed it nicely past the both the defensive wall and the keeper to put his team within one. That is how the first half ended with
Sporting F.C having a 2-1 lead.
The Second half came out with the storm defense showing signs of fatigue. The Sporting FC took advantage of that in just the 53rd minute doing as they had all night putting together a series of crosses to quickly regain a two goal advantage.
The Storm made a great effort to stay in the game as Tyler Coombes dug deep and took possession of the ball about 25 yards out busting though two defenders creating a break away slotting the ball past the keeper at the far post and put the Storm with in one again in a 3-2 battle in L.A.. Unfortunately that seemed to be all that was left for the Storm's defense with only two defenders and two forwards holding the back line together, the fatigue really set in and the Sporting FC put forth an attack that the Storm could not weather as the Sporting FC put two more on the board before the final whistle that ended the game in a 5-2 loss for the Storm.
keep checking back for next weeks schedule that should be out soon.Stormhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10697457914595299356noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8364893220345425559.post-46401839335579892292012-10-08T17:18:00.002-07:002012-10-08T17:18:52.062-07:00Storm very excited about new found talent.

The Storm with 10 retuning players and 13 prospects displayed very well the kind of talent they have in keeping even with the pro-team. Both teams enjoyed equal possession throughout the game as well as having an equal number of scoring chances going both directions.
Storm forward Tyler Coombes, who lead the Storm last season in scoring with 16 goals in 12 games, had several good opportunities that could not be capitalized on. Newcomers Beto Sanchez and Ricky Cruz also took some quality shots on target that came away empty. Defender Derek Dodrill and Midfielder Jayor Martinez have recently been training with the High Rollers in efforts to earn a chance at making the team,. They also had good opportunites throughout the game;
showcasing well their talents as well as the talent the Storm maintain in front of the pro team as they played against them for this friendly game.
However, the Storm had plenty of chances themselves to see the new talent that were showcasing for them and how they would compete in a highly competitive, professional level game. The results were excellent for the Storm as they saw many trial players that will prove to be outstanding additions to the team.
Specific names as David Duffy; a center back from Newcastle England earned himself the opportunity to be one of the newest additions to the defense for the Storm. David has years of experience in England playing with and captaining the U-18 England Schoolboy National Team. In addition David has College experience here in the States playing for and co-captaining for Columbia University; a NCAA Division 1 school. He also has experience with the Manhattan Celtic, of the NY Cosmopolitan Soccer League and the New York Athletic Club.Another bright potential that the Storm had the opportunity to see was a young 19-year-old by the name of Ricky Cruz. He is primarily a midfielder but has earned a good amount of experience in the defense as well playing with the U-17 Mexican National team, Pachuca’s U-17 Professional Development in Mexico and played with Chivas USA’s academy team. This 5’7” midfielder will be another great addition for the Storm.
21 year old Eric Flores looks to be another excellent addition to the Storms attacking front line as he is adapted to both the midfield and the forward positions.
Returning to the team is Mathayo Huma; a forward who played with the Storm in 2009 under it’s previously known title: The Lancaster Rattlers who played in the P.D.L of the U.S.L. Mathayo spent time in Mexico with Tecos first Division playing in eight (8) games with the club in both the reserve and first teams. Huma returned to the Rattlers from 2010 until 2012 before spending a year with the Ventura Fusion of the P.D.L. For 2013 he will be returning to the Storm for the
team’s much anticipated 2nd season in The Santa Clarita Valley. Mathayo was born in Kenya, Africa and has been in the U.S. for the majority of his playing career.Another new yet returning player is Beto Sanchez who also played with The Lancaster Rattlers when they played in the U.S.L, with both the Super 20 team and the P.D.L team before he was sidelined with an injury for two years. Back to playing fitness he now returns looking to add the same speed, agility, ball control, and aggressiveness he brought to the team in the past.

The Storm will now train to prepare for an up coming match with the L.A. The Highrollers is the newest NASL Division II pro team that will make its
season debut in 2013. The club has been playing for several years in Los
Angles, CA and has now emerged as a pro team with a board of directors that
consists of such names in Futbol as Franz Beckenbauer, regarded as one
of the most famous German footballers of all time. He was voted third behind Johan
Cruyff and Pele for the European player of the century by IFFHS. Mario
Zagallo, a Brazilian that started his footballer career in America in 1948
was the first footballer to win the World Cup as a player in 1958,1962, and as
a manager in 1970. He won again as an assistant coach in the1994 World Cup with
the Brazilian national team. Zagallo also coached his country to a 4th
place finish in the 1974 World Cup and to a 2nd place finish in the 1998 Cup.

In addition, on the board of directors for the Highrollers is PELE, a
name that needs no explanation or introduction. Yes, the very same PELE,
a National hero of Brazilian soccer scoring over 760 goals. He scored in 541
in-league championships making him the top scorer of all time. In total, PELE
scored 1281 goals in 1363 games. He will be forever known worldwide for his
accomplishments.
Also with the Highrollers is Carlos Alberto Torres, another Brazilian
World Cup hero named by PELE as one of the top 125 greatest living footballers
in 2004. Torres not only played in Brazil but also came to the US in 1977 and
played in New York City for the Cosmos where he was reunited with his friend PELE.
He won three National titles in the NASL in 1977,1978, and 1982. Torres was a
five-time all-star in the NASL.

The Highrollers consists mainly of International players and as one might guess
a lot of Brazilians. The Storms players Jayro Martines and Derek
Dodrill are presently training with the team for a possible spot. This
looks to be an exciting team and the friendly match should prove to be
interesting, and the Storm will be looking for an Affiliation to start here.
Oakland, California- The Game was a typical playoff game with hard aggressive play on both sides, with each side waiting on one mistake in play so they can take advantage of it. It was the Storm striking first in the 15th minute as they had done for much of this season. Martin Galvan brought the ball down the middle of the pitch, seeing midfielder Andes Bueno on the left side, Galvan made a pass to Bueno while he was on the run.
Bueno received the ball at his feet and scored to put the team up by one. However just five minutes later the Ambassadors wanted to show why they were the Northern Conference winners and in the 21st minute Ambassador midfielder picked off a loose ball in midfield and from 25 yards out tied the score with a shot that went by Storm keeper Alex Burkevics. The Storm responded to the goal with an attack of there own the lead to a foul and a restart 20 yards to the left of the Bay Area goal. The ball went around the wall and was picked up by Martin Galvan who fed the feet of defender and player of
the game Abel Hindjosa who put his team up by one. That was the second goal for the Storm in the first half and the first 45 ended with a 2-1 lead for the visitors over the Ambassadors.
The Second half is what the Ambassadors needed to regroup. The second half was more intense as time was running out for the Ambassadors and they continued to apply pressure, until the 66th minute of play while defending in the box a foul was called against Storm's midfielder Matt Shaxton that lead to a penalty kick for the Bay Area Ambassadors and that was enough to get the lead and what ended up the wining goal. The
Ambassadors ended up knocking the Storm out of the 2012 playoffs in the first round of the Western Regional Playoffs. The Ambassadors will go on to face the Sonoma County SOL next week as the Sol knocked off the Southern Conference Champions; the San Diego Flash in a 4-3 win in Penalty kicks. .

Storm washes out San Diego in a Flash

Santa Clarita, Ca. - If you looked at the game on paper it's understandable why some made predictions
For One : Its was a do or die match for the Storm who with a 7-3-3 record
Opponent:: San Diego Flash with an undefeated record of 11-2-0 best record in the National Premier Soccer league,
Record facing the Flash:. 2011 lost both times facing them one score was 8-1 2012 lost 3-0 in San Diego
I know where I would of put my money, but everyone must play the 90 minute game before anything is finial.
Things change and change they did, for the Storm it was a couple of different factors, one a new keeper in the net with college experience. Steven Rodriguez has done an excellent job for the storm and got them this far. However with the pressure increasing in a match such as this, Head Coach Jose Meza choose to go with our number 2 keeper Alex Burkevics who has college experience and has playoff experience as well.

Martin Galvan Forward

Second change was a healthy Tyler Coombes back and healthy after receiving an injury in the match with the Rangers that has sideline him. Also the return of Jose Ruesga and Robert Hill who both where sitting out because of red card violations. And to secure the midfield Matt Shaxton was healthy after a heel injury suffered in the match two weeks ago with the San Diego Boca. the return of a few key players brought an unexpected and confidante Flash team a fight. It was in the 26th minute of play when the Storms Midfielder Richard Galvan had possession of the ball and seen an open forward his brother Martin Galvan and slipped a nice little short pass to his feet and Martin put his foot to it and kick a through ball shot right passed the keeper to put the Storm on top. Fired up the Storm kept building until 11 minutes later in the 37th minute
Martin Galvan with the ball again but this time seen his counter part on top Tyler Coombes coming up the side and with a pass Coombes took it on the run and with no one but the keeper to stop him on a one on one Coombes made a quick move and shot it pass Nick Harpel the Flash Keeper.
Now with a two goal lead on the division leaders the Storm just kept building and then just 11 minutes later again in the 48th minute of play thunder struck and lightening in the name of Alex Harley was on the receiving end of yet another pass from Martin Galvan playing out wide Harlley found himself all alone when he received the pass and like the wind took off and again keeper Harpel was alone and facing yet another one on one that ended the same way and now three goals up at the end of the first half.
Second half the Storm knew what happen the week before when the Rangers where up on the Flash by one the Flash came back and in a Flash picked up 5 unanswered goals for the comeback win.
Well they came out with a purpose the Flash did as they put on more pressure on the Storms midfield and defense. The Storm held solid until seven minutes in the half a foul on the Flash and in the box so a plenty kick was awarded and the lead was cut to only two. For the next 32minutes the Flash has multiple opportunities but to this point all where turned away on some beautiful saves performed by Storms keeper Alex Burkevics. Then in the 84th minute Flash's Ortiz delivering a corner kick and midfielder off the bench Jon Sawyer picked it up and sent it pass Burkevics to put his team back in the game and with in only one. the Flash really put the pressure on with over 20 shots in the game most in the second half kept the Storm backed up and defending and in the 88th minute the pressure paid off and Flash's Ortiz already with an assist, took the gall in midfield and tied the game for the flash.

Tyler Coombes point leader

No heads down in the Storm camp, even with losing a three goal advantage they fought back with pressure of there own. With only a minute to play the Storm knew a tie was not good enough when forward Wayne Lampart, who came in off the bench for Martin Galvan laid a pas to Coombes who found him self alone again and on a breakaway for the third time that night keeper Harpel found himself on the wrong end of a one on one and Coombes the point leader for the Storm carried his team to the finial minute as he beat Harpel and applied the game winner to the back of the net. the Flash had a few last minute shots on target but Player of the game keeper Alex Burkevics was not allowing any more pass him, and they didn't. With the 4-3 win the Storm will now travel to face the First place team in the North the Bay Area Ambassadors in a single game elimination game to play the winners in the south for the Western Regional Championship and will represent the West in the National Championship to be held July 26-29th in San Diego, California.
